Project Goals & Objectives
The general goal of this Model Project is to support
the Colorado Campaign by demonstrating
how a Department of Peace and Nonviolence will add value to
our community.
Specific goals and related objectives are listed
below:
Positive perception of the Department of
Peace and Nonviolence to the General Public
• Demonstrate that the DoPN will add
value to the local community / region / country on a key issue
• Demonstrate
how the DoPN will help integrate the ongoing efforts of Partner Departments
related to a key issue
• How
a national strategy on the key issue will be more effective and better
utilize our National resources
• How
the DoPN will complement the efforts of Partner Departments on a key
issue
• How
it will help coordinate / integrate ongoing programs
• How
it will fill in gaps where issues are not being adequately addressed.
• .Demonstrate why America needs a DoPN
and a National strategy for reducing domestic violence using a key
issue as an example.
• Demonstrate to Practitioners that the
DoPN will have a positive impact on existing human services programs
dealing with a key issue
Revised Legislation that is more inclusive
• Construct a Regional Model of the
DoPN using the current Legislation
• Exercise the Model on a key issue
to determine its function and potential effectiveness
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the
Regional DoPN on a key issue as Modeled
• Propose changes to the Department
/ Legislation on a key issue
Demonstrate how a National strategy using nonviolent alternatives
will complement existing domestic violence reduction programs in
Partner Departments
• Exercise the Model to demonstrate how
Partner Departments will collaborate on a key issue and how the
Federal Intergovernmental Committee will function and how the
other Committee will function
• Evaluate the effectiveness of these
interface groups as they pertain to the key issue
• Propose changes to the Department
/ Legislation, if appropriate
Demonstrate how the DoPN will complement existing local
domestic violence reduction programs
• Exercise the Model on a key issue to
demonstrate the need for local practitioners for an integrated
implementation of Best Practices
• Evaluate the effectiveness of Regional Offices and
the use of local resources related to a key issue
• Propose changes to the Department /
Legislation, if appropriate
